Manor Senior High School's Culinary Arts Team is the newest member of the Texas Restaurant Association; the first for Manor ISD.
In order to join the association, the team was required to complete the Prostart Curriculum; written by the National Restaurant Association. They were also required to have a commercial kitchen, food handler certification and pass other tests.
"Our culinary students work hard every day in class; and some show up as early as 5 am for prep work," said Chef Instructor Mari Corales. "It is important to give them a genuine kitchen work life experience so they don't go into the restaurant industry with the idea that it is all glitz and glamour. A lot of hard work goes into creating a legacy in food."
Students from the Manor ISD Culinary Arts program have gone one to work in restaurants such as Chilantro, Panda Express, Taco Bell, Zaxby's and more. Some have even become managers in their young careers.
Congratulations to all of our culinary arts students for their hard work and dedication!
