I was born in San Antonio, Texas, and attended St. Gerard’s Regional High School. I received an Associate degree in Applied Science in Radio-TV-Film from San Antonio College. After that, I attended Trinity University and received my Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Latin American Studies.
I began my career not in teaching, but Advertising and Marketing. I was in that field for 25 years. The apex of my career was becoming the Vice-President of Montemayor y Asociados advertising agency in San Antonio. I spent most of my advertising years in radio and television sales.
In 2003, I returned to college to pursue a Masters degree in Education from the University of Phoenix. I left advertising and entered into the teaching profession, where I have taught over the last 12 years, ESL, English, World History, U.S. History, and middle school social studies in Phoenix, Arizona, Houston, Katy, Austin and Manor Texas.
I live in Austin with my daughter Libby, and assorted pets including 2 cats and a guinea pig.
