Thanksgiving is still four months away, but the Manor High School Cheerleading Squad has already made some big plans.
The team was selected to participate in the 91st Annual Macy's Day Thanksgiving Parade in New York City. Every year, Spirit of America Productions selects a cheer team to attend the world-famous event, and this year, they chose MHS. The students will take part in a cheer routine on the parade route, along with various other bands, floats, and short Broadway musical performances.
"The heart of our cheer program is showcasing the talents and hard work of our squad," said MHS Cheerleading Coach Norma Franco. "We as a team are learning that if you want something, go after it with all your might. We come from a small town, but we have big dreams and this is just the start.
The cheerleaders that will represent MHS are:
Harley Anne Horn
Due to travel costs, so far, only 14 of the 22 cheerleaders can attend. The group has raised money by raising proceeds with Good Luck Grill in Manor, and will partner with the University of Texas at Austin to help with concessions at UT football and soccer games this fall. If you would like to help donate, contact Coach Franco at 512-278-4850 or at email@example.com.
You can watch the nationally televised parade on Thanksgiving at 8 am on NBC.
