Five Manor ISD Students will be working part-time with Samsung Austin Semiconductor , as part of the company's High School Graduate Internship pilot program.
Manor High School students Jerry Houston, Artero Davis, and JC Perez, along with New Tech High School's Clarence Marshall and Matthew Serpas were accepted into the program. The internship is for students interested in Engineering Technology, and will pay $13 an hour for 4 days, 12 hours a week. The internship will later consist of working 2 days a week, with the other 3 days attending Austin Community College towards an Associate's Degree.
The program will give graduates an opportunity to lear the semiconductor industry and gain valuable hands-on experience. At the end of the 10-week internship, graduates will have enough knowledge and experience to determine if they are prepared to launch a career with Samsung, as a Technician. After receiving the Associate's Degree, students may transfer to a four-year undergrad and complete their Batchelor's of Science.
In order to be eligible, students must be graduating seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA, must be at least 18, and interested in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math field.
Manor ISD would like to congratulate all five of our students, and wish them all the best in their endeavors.
