Course Description

ARTS, A/V TECHNOLOGY & COMMUNICATIONS CAREER PATHWAY
PREREQUISITE: Digital & Interactive Media 1A and 1B
 
 
NEWSPAPER 1A (Printing & Imaging Technology): Advanced upper level class, grades 11-12. This course is designed for students to be enrolled for all 3 trimesters. Students learn skills in newspaper production and journalism. Practice determining news coverage and editorial policy. Students will learn photography and photo editing techniques, e.g. how to select, crop, adjust levels, contrast, exposure etc. using Adobe Photoshop (advanced technological software application, standard in the industry). Students will also plan, draft and complete written and visual communications on a regular basis in a variety of forms such as print, digital or online media using Adobe InDesign (advanced technological software application for layout and design of pages, standard in the industry). Attaining valuable real world skills.
 
Credit: 0.5 per semester for all three trimesters total credit: 1.5 and will receive honor cord at graduation.
 
NEWSPAPER 1B (Printing & Imaging Technology): Advanced upper level class, grades 11-12. In addition to the above this course requires time outside of school hours to cover school events for the newspaper as well as leadership and teamwork abilities. Attaining valuable real world skills.
 
Credit: 0.5 per semester for all three trimesters total credit: 1.5 and will receive honor cord at graduation.
 
NEWSPAPER 1C (Printing & Imaging Technology): Advanced upper level class, grades 11-12. Continuation of the above with more in-depth coverage and applications of using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign (advanced technology application software standard in the industry). Attaining valuable real world skills.
 
Credit: 0.5 per semester for all three trimesters total credit: 1.5 and will receive honor cord at graduation.
